Month #4

Such a happy girl!

Fun Fact: Christina laughed for the first time on Easter Sunday! She laughed at her daddy, he is pretty funny, or maybe she just thought he was funny looking!

Started taking Chris on walks in the Baby Bjorn. She absolutely loved it! She could see so much better and feel the wind in her hair!

She looks so big when she sits in her bumbo!

Sometimes we would take walks to the law school and visit Ben for a quick second.  This is the Law School where Ben lived for three years. It is such a beautiful building, inside and out. The picture on the right is the original building or at least the shell is original. The addition is modern but stunning, everything blends very well.

Summary of  the Month:

Eats every 3 to 3.5 hours. Takes a longer nap in the morning with shorter naps throughout the day. Awake for no more than 2 hour stretches. Sleeping 5 or 6 hour stretches at night. She started laughing this month and rolling from her tummy to her back. She also started to learn to fall asleep unassisted and to suck on her thumb.

Likes: Putting the blanket on her face while she moves her arms and legs (SUPER FUNNY), going on walks in the baby bjorn, and laughing at her dad

Dislikes: Going to bed for the night

DC TRIP!

We went to DC! Back in March... Living in Carlisle we were only two hours away from DC, so we have been there numerous times and have walked "the Mall" several times. This was our first excursion with Chris.
She was a trooper!

We wanted to go to DC one last time and see the National Cherry Blossom Festival that we had missed every year. We went down on a Monday, the first day of the festival. Naturally being that it was a Monday we could not get down there any earlier than about 3:30. I had forgotten to take into account that the museums would close at 5pm… We went to the National Building Museum in which we saw, among other things, a Lego replica of the building itself.

Next we raced over to the Washington Memorial to see the long awaited beautiful cherry blossoms. We took the metro to get there. Christina's first train ride. It was super windy outside and wind and babies don't mix, so thank goodness for the train. Taking a stroller on the metro was easy on the way in, but on the way back we hit rush hour and that was a tight squeeze, luckily we didn’t have to go far.

We got to the Washington Monument were the cherry blossoms outline the grassy plot.

What we saw was...

A whole bunch of trees with no cherry blossoms... This year was unseasonable warm and the cherry blossoms came early. The blossoms came and went. With the wind as strong as it was the petals were all blown away. The picture below was the only tree with one tiny branch of cherry blossoms still clinging on.

What a huge disappointment.

After that it was just about five o'clock when Christina needed to be fed. Of course all the museums were closed or closing. The wind was not constant but large gusts came and went. I sat outside the Smithsonian on a bench and fed Christina under a blanket while Ben tried to shield us from the wind. Every time the wind came up she would gasp and than let out a little cry. Poor girl! If it wasn't so crowded and gross we would have feed her on the metro. She got her fill and then we were off to our next adventure.

Thanks Alli for the car seat cover, you really saved our Babe!

Our trip wasn't a total waste, we were able to meet up with some friends in China Town for dinner at the Wok 'n Roll!

Delicious!

Thanks Brandy and Wesley!

Cousins!

Christina 3 weeks, Theo 2 years
Christina 3 months, Ingrid 15 months

Christina with cousins Theo and Ingrid. They were so good with her! It is hard to image that only in a few short years they will all be running around playing together!

Christina now has a second cousin, Corbin Baird! Wahoo!

and one more on the way
(Theo's soon to be brother) we can't wait!

Month #3

She's a Dodger fan already!

Such a sweet photo with dad.

One of the biggest smiles I have ever recorded on film.  I love when her tongue even seems to be smiling!

This dress was my blessing dress! Thank you mom for saving it all these years! The beautiful blanket she is laying on was crochet by my mother. She was working on it while she was out visiting us, along with my father, after Christina was first born. It was hilarious to watch my mom and my dad try to take the yarn from it's original disheveled shape and make it into a ball!

Thanks a million mama!
March was a busy month for Christina; she had her first plan ride (we went to visit our family in Utah), met most of her family, and had her blessing. She loved every minute of it.

I was completely surprised how good she was on the plane. Only cried a few times for a few short seconds when she got  hungry and when she was full. Thank-goodness she took a bottle on the plane! It would have been awkward nursing next to complete strangers.

Christina LOVED seeing her family of the first time and of course they loved her.

This Month:

Still eating every three hours and awake for no more than two hour stretches. She started sleeping better while we were visiting family in UT, yay! She started to go five or six hours between feedings at night. She started to grasp objects this month.

Likes: Meeting new people, facing out, and sitting up (with assistance)

Dislikes: Tummy time

Month #2

Christina in her crib with her lamb

BATH TIME!

Christina absolutely loved her first bath and subsequently every bath after that.

FUN FACT: Christina got her first bath and smiled for the first time all in the same day!

Before and After

Ben likes to comb her hair back; she definitely looks like a different baby that way!

This was my first and only attempt at taming her hair by putting Gel in it. As you can tell it really didn't work to well!

Summary of 2nd Month:

Christina would wake up to eat every three hours and then go back to sleep not long after. This month she started moving her arms and legs like she was busy doing something. She started cooing and smiling this month.

Likes: Car rides, walks in the stroller, and being held close

Dislikes: Tummy time and diaper changes
